+ Software – Must react appropriately to faulty situations.
+ Software – Regularly checks it can perform with the OS.
+ Software – Forward compatibility.
+ Software – Regularly checks for errors to prevent run-time errors.
+ Developers ensure that it is of a high quality:
+ Developers scan for viruses before distribution.
+ Users regularly scan emails, removable media and update anti-virus software.
+ Developers must provide support to the user that is timely, accurate and efficient.
+ Pay for the software.
+ Software must be able to work with older operating systems and is robust.
Don’ts
+ Software – Does NOT make changes to the OS.
+ Software – Does not affect other applications.
+ Software – Applications does not affect it.
+ Users don’t copy or decompile the software illegally without explicit permission.
